Happy Friday to all!

Well, it has been a while since our last Member Spotlight post, so it’s high time we featured another one of our awesome community members.

This week we are featuring Emily Loos!

Emily is originally from upstate New York, but she moved out west 17 years ago to earn her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Colorado State University.

“I met my husband while in graduate school and moved to Cheyenne to be with him over 10 years ago, ” Emily says. “I never thought I would end up in Cheyenne. I remember driving through when I was 19 years old and thinking I could never live here, but here I am! And I love it. It’s our home and I wouldn’t want to raise my daughter anywhere else.”

Emily is the owner of LIV Health, which provides case management and in-home counseling with a personal touch. LIV allows patients to have help coming right to their doors, giving them more control over their appointments.

“I think people present so differently when you see them in their homes versus a sterile, hospital or clinical setting,” Emily says. “You can learn more about people by walking into their homes and spending a few minutes chatting with them on their couch, than you can by assessing them in the hospital for an hour while they are suffering from an emergency.”

Emily has worked in social work for years, but she was inspired to start LIV after the birth of their daughter.

“We have a beautiful, vibrant, larger-than-life 6-year-old daughter, who gets most of our attention outside of work. We love to spend time together as a family traveling and exploring,” Emily says. “My dream was always to start a company, but it wasn’t until after my daughter was born that I had the courage to take the leap. I loved being a social worker and working with people, especially in their homes and the community. I also knew that I wanted something where I could incorporate being a working woman and a mom. I remember asking my employer after I had my daughter for more flexibility or the ability to work from home to spend more time with my daughter, to which he replied no, stating it wasn’t possible. After that, he treated me differently. That gave me the strength to leave the workforce and create this company.”

Emily works to make LIV Health a company where employees have a voice, flexibility, and more time with their families.

As a member here, Emily primarily uses The Second Floor as a place to come together with LIV employees for meetings and brainstorming sessions.

“The Second Floor has given us a space to be comfortable and creative,” she says. “First, the coffee is amazing and it really gets our creative juices flowing. Second, The Second Floor is a community in itself and we feel more immersed and comfortable there. It’s like we are part of something bigger than ourselves.”

When Emily isn’t working or spending time with her daughter, you will most likely find her reading.

“Not a day goes by that I don’t have my nose in a book at some point,” she says.

Thank you so much, Emily!! We love having you and all of the LIV Health folks as part of our community!
